Strip Mall Evacuates After Gas Leak In Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A Jurupa Valley strip mall was evacuated Friday when a gas main was damaged, springing a leak.

The rupture was reported about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 7800 block of Limonite Avenue, near Camino Real, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and discovered a line compromised due to unspecified activity.

Fire officials immediately ordered the mall evacuated as a precaution, relying on assistance from sheriff's deputies.

No injuries were reported.

Shortly before 11 a.m., SoCal Gas Co. technicians mitigated the leak and initiated repairs, after which business resumed at the mall.
