Yucaipa Thieves Caught With Stolen Rifle, Trailer, Drugs: Police

Police said they arrested two people accused of stealing an assault rifle and narcotics.

YUCAIPA, CA -- Two suspects were arrested in connection to a months-old storage unit burglary in Claremont that involved the theft of of an assault rifle and narcotics. Authorities said Derek Dodds, 34, and Brittney Patterson, 26, both from Yucaipa, were arrested in connection to the October 2017 burglary.

The burglary happened at Extra Space Storage locatedat 525 W. Arrow Highway in Claremont, police said.

On April 3, a search warrant was served at the residence of the suspects in the 12000 block of Redstone Circle in Yucaipa. Detectives located the Claremont victim’s stolen property and additional stolen property, which included a stolen SKS Assault Rifle, a stolen trailer and narcotics, police said.

The suspects were found two days later at the Country Inn and Suites in Redlands. Both suspects were booked at the Claremont Police Department Jail. After posting bond, both were released from custody, police said.
