"Diego was truly a beautiful soul — kind, selfless, humorous, and full of light and love," the campaign page reads. "He had a quiet strength and a heart that always put others before himself. He loved his family fiercely and had deep unwavering faith in God. His passion for boxing showed his dedication and discipline, and he was incredibly proud of his Mexican heritage, always honoring his roots.
"Diego had just gotten his first job and was about to start college — excited about building his future and chasing his dreams. He had so many dreams, hopes, and above all, so much love to give," the page continued.
Included in photos posted to the GoFundMe page are images of a smiling, handsome young man donning a graduation cap and gown. Other images show him surrounded by loved ones.
"His loss has left an unimaginable void in our lives and hearts. We will honor and remember Diego through the intense love we all share for him, and the memories that we will hold dear forever in our hearts," the page said.
All World Boxing Club, where Diego reportedly spent much of his time, is holding a candlelight vigil at 4 p.m. Monday, July 14. The club is located at 9461 Foothill Blvd., in Rancho Cucamonga.
In a social media post last week, the club said, "It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Diego has passed away. He was truly an amazing kid and has improved so much in the ring; it was an honor training him and watching him grow. You will be truly missed."
