Traffic Nightmare On I-10 Leads To Miles-Long Backup In Beaumont

Delays of up to more than an hour were reported headed into Redlands from Beaumont on Wednesday morning.

BEAUMONT, CA— Lengthy traffic delays were reported Wednesday morning on Interstate 10 after a late-night crash on Tuesday left lanes blocked. The wreck happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday on the westbound side of the freeway, near Redlands Boulevard, according to the CHP.

Preliminary California Highway Patrol reports indicate a big rig crashed and rolled onto its side. The scene blocked the two rightmost lanes. Another vehicle involved in the wreck landed off of the roadway, in a ditch, images from the scene showed.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but it wasn't immediately clear how many people were hurt, if any.

Caltrans issued a sigalert on Tuesday night that was initially expected to just last a couple hours, but it has since been extended multiple times into Wednesday morning.

Traffic reports indicated a major slowdown as a result of the wreck. As of 8 a.m., delays of up to more than an hour were reported headed into Redlands from Beaumont.

However, but 10 a.m. traffic seemed to be moving again.
