Two Men Arrested in Shooting of Victor Prinque, 77, in Hemet

Police on Wednesday Nov. 20 announced the arrests of two men accused in the fatal shooting of a 77-year-old Victor Prinque in Hemet on Saturday.

The arrested men were identified as Kelvin L. Red Jr., 24, and Tiaki A. Mosley, 19, both of San Jacinto.

The shooting was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Nov. 16, and officers responded to the 2800 block of West Fruitvale Avenue, Hemet police Lt. Eric Dickson said in a statement earlier this week.

They found a wounded man on the ground in a garage, Dickson said. He had a single gunshot wound and he was rushed to Hemet Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

There were no known witnesses to the shooting, police said. But detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle description and distributed the description to all law enforcement agencies in the San Jacinto Valley, Hemet Police Lt. Duane Wisehart said Wednesday.

"Additionally, detectives learned that at least two similar types of robberies had occurred  in San Jacinto in recent weeks, so contact was made and information shared with their detectives," Wisehart said.

On Tuesday Nov. 19, a Riverside County sheriff's sergeant observed a vehicle possibly matching the suspect vehicle and stopped it in the City of San Jacinto, Wisehart said.

"The driver and occupants of the vehicle were detained for questioning, and ultimately search warrants were obtained and served on the vehicle and other locations in San Jacinto and Hemet," Wisehart said.

Red and Mosley were arrested on suspicion of homicide and their bail was set at $1 million each, Wisehart said.

"Hemet Police Investigators pursued this case with relentless commitment and made it clear they would not sleep until the suspects responsible for this
senseless crime were identified and arrested," Hemet police Chief David Brown said Wednesday.

"We would also like to thank the Riverside County District Attorney's Office and the Riverside County Sheriff for all of their assistance with this case," Brown said.

Anyone with more info was urged to call Hemet police Cpl. Josiah Douglas at (951) 765-2324.
