Whitewater Bridge Collapses Near Interstate 10: Report

WHITEWATER, CA — A bridge that parallels Interstate 10 in Whitewater has collapsed.

KESQ broke the story Monday and captured photos of the damaged infrastructure located at the Whitewater Cutoff near the Whitewater Rock and Supply Company.

A county spokesperson told the news agency the bridge "was closed during Hurricane Hilary back in August due to damage sustained during the storm."

But on Monday the bridge had visibly collapsed (see footage below).

The county is planning to demolish the bridge, according to the spokesperson.
