Woman Mauled To Death By Stray Dogs In SoCal Park: Reports

At least two of the dogs reportedly charged at responding police officers, prompting officers to shoot and kill a pit bull.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — A woman died and another person was injured Thursday after they were attacked by a pack of stray dogs at a San Bernardino park, according to reports citing police.

San Bernardino police said officers responded to Perris Hill Park in the 1100 block of East Highland Avenue after receiving a call that someone was being attacked by dogs, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Police said a 51-year-old woman was bitten multiple times by the dogs, according to the Victorville Daily Press. The pack included more than a dozen dogs.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries, reports said. She was later identified as 51-year-old Teodora Mendoza.

The Daily Press reported that two of the dogs charged at police, prompting officers to shoot at them. One of the animals was fatally struck.

A second person was injured in the attack. Their current condition is unknown.
