Woman Suffers Serious Burns, 2 Cats Die In Redlands House Fire

REDLANDS, CA — A woman suffered severe burns Tuesday morning, and two of her cats died after her Redlands home caught fire.

The incident was reported in the 600 block of Dearborn Street. When Redlands firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from a single-story mobile home.

The fire quickly spread to the home's kitchen and living areas before firefighters could bring the blaze under control.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Crews prevented flames from spreading to parked vehicles and neighboring mobile homes, according to the city of Redlands.

The woman, who was inside the home when the blaze broke out, escaped before firefighters arrived. She was found sitting on the sidewalk across the street from her burning home.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to a hospital. Despite her serious burns, she is expected to survive, the city reported.

Damage to the home is estimated at $200,000, according to the city. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
