Belmont Boy Learns Value of Community Service

My name is Ari Kapoor, and I am a 4^th grader at Carey School in San Mateo California.  I am going to tell you about all my volunteering I’ve done. 

I think volunteering is important because it helps out our world and people in the world who are less fortunate. I really hope you think about volunteering because it helps out a lot more than you think, and it is definitely enjoyable.

Now I will tell you about 2 stories and how I started to want to volunteer about every month. The reason why I wanted to do community services was because of a project I was assigned to do at school.  Our teacher asked us to do a community service learning project and we had a choice of what we wanted to do.  I chose to pick up trash in our neighborhood. 

I went to Twin Pines Park (in Belmont, CA) and on the first day I picked up 20 pounds of trash. On the second day I picked up 60 pounds of trash! We found a big pole weighing 30 pounds in a stream.  My Mom and I were wearing rain boots so we retrieved the pole out of the stream and gave it to some men working at the park. 

Today I also went to a place in Redwood Shores where my brother, Father, and sister packed shoes for the homeless. After that my sister sewed a bag for them and I wrote 30 cards for them.

When I wrote my report, I said every month I would help out the community, and that is what I have done. 

In conclusion, I hope you think about volunteering because it helps out a lot more than you think, I also hope you come across what I came across.
