In Gleason’s 22 years as principal, and more than 30 years in Catholic education, Gleason has been a tireless advocate for all-girls Catholic education. The event takes place May 18, 2013 in the Moore Pavilion on the school’s campus.

Gleason, NDB class of 1966, has graduated over 3500 young women during her time as principal. Gleason has consistently worked to ensure that an NDB education is available, accessible and affordable to those who would otherwise not be able to consider Catholic high school for their daughter. Gleason is renowned for her extremely personal response to any student or family in need.

“Rita has come to the personal aid of students and families in so many ways in the spirit of educating for and acting on behalf of justice and peace in the world,” shared JoAnn Kozloski, Associate Principal.

Gleason’s locally famous navy blue VW bug can be seen in the school parking lot almost 24/7.  Her generosity has seemingly no bounds. If you have a question or problem, and you see her car in the parking lot, you know she is available to help you.

An alumna ‘43 recently shared “When Rita Gleason joined the school as Principal; she was tenacious and purposeful in reaching out to alumnae to re-connect with the school. Rita was persistent and persuasive with alumnae and always with such good purpose and utter commitment. Rita energized the school and institutional relations and provided an opportunity for me to feel connected. She inspired me to come back on campus and to continue to be a part of the growth of the school.”

This black tie optional event brings together alumnae, alumnae parents, current parents, faculty and staff, local civic and business leaders and peers to honor and celebrate Gleason.

Celebrity mistress of ceremonies is Public Address Announcer for World Champion San Francisco Giants, Renel Brooks-Moon. For event information, please visit the website at www.ndhsb.org or contact the school at 650-595-1913 x315.
