Due to a lack of proactive and consistent communication to parents that enrollment growth was exceeding available capacity despite the addition of a second school in Redwood Shores, parents were completely shocked to see that their children were assigned to Nesbit which would require crossing 101, a major highway.

The school board's decision to not add a 4th Kindergarten class to one of the Redwood Shores schools instead adding that 4th Kindergarten class at Nesbit was done without input from the community and without considering the ramifications to the Redwood Shores community.
Please sign the petition to show your support for adding a 4th Kindergarten class to Sandpiper, and join us in demanding that the Belmont Redwood Shores School District and Board of Trustees focus on proactive and consistent communication, transparency in decision-making, and collaboration with all stakeholders. There are no easy answers to solve the over-enrollment issue, but If the district and board commits to being open and honest with stakeholders, there should be no need for parents to storm school board meetings in anger year after year.
