Ralston Parents Call for 'Black Friday'

Concerned over what they say is a lack of information regarding the termination of Ralston Middle School principal Scott Carson, some parents are encouraging a visual gesture.

[Editor's note: The following is an excerpt of letter sent out by a group of Ralston parents and posted as a comment on a recent Patch article about the termination of Ralston Middle School principal Scott Carson.]

Dear concerned parents, teachers, and community members;

The time has come for us to stand together as a community to show our disapproval of BRSSD's abrupt action to terminate Ralston's principal, Scott Carson.

The District has not provided any context for Mr. Carson’s dismissal. Nor does the District appear to have sought any parent or staff input. Whatever the explanation for Mr. Carson’s departure, the fact remains that we have had three acting principals in two years! If Mr. Carson leaves, his replacement will be our fourth. How can this possibly be in our children’s best interests?

We are now more concerned than ever about the quality of decision making within BRSSD (Belmont-Redwood Shores School District). Let's make ourselves seen! As a visible gesture, to show our support for Mr. Carson and our disapproval of BRSSD's actions and subsequent silence--Let's make this Friday 3/15/2013 "BLACK FRIDAY"! Wear black-- could be clothing, ribbon, armband, etc., just make it black! Parents, teachers, community members, students--all are welcome to participate! The point is to show our teachers, other parents, students and community that we are standing up.
