📰 News we're reading

• Wilkinson returns as Belvedere mayor with Beach Road, fire service priorities (thearknewspaper.com) — Belvedere residents will see a familiar leader in 2026 as Councilmember Sally Wilkinson returns to the mayor’s seat, with Kevin Burke stepping in as vice mayor. Wilkinson is prioritizing the Beach Road stabilization project, the city’s expensive fire-services contract, and a 20-year vision plan while City Manager Robert Zadnik continues overseeing day-to-day operations.

• Belvedere submits fifth draft housing element to state for final approval (thearknewspaper.com) — Belvedere has finally submitted its long-delayed 2023–2031 housing element to the state, potentially ending nearly three years of noncompliance with California housing mandates. The plan outlines how the city will accommodate at least 160 new homes, backed by recently adopted zoning changes that open the door for additional development over the next eight years.

• Belvedere recognizes Kemnitzer, Martori as citizens of the year (thearknewspaper.com) — Belvedere is honoring longtime public servant Nancy Kemnitzer as its 2025 Citizen of the Year and volunteer leader Pam Martori as Citizen Emeritus. Both women were selected by a local committee, approved by the City Council, and will be celebrated at the city’s annual town-hall-style meeting in late January.
