Speaker Series: The Vallejo Family Letters - A Historic Presentation

“Advocacy- how to get what you want from local/regional government” will be the topic of the Carquinez Village Speaker Series to be held at 10:30 am Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at the Benicia Public Library, 150 East L St. in Benicia.
The featured speaker will be Monica Brown, Solano County Supervisor for District 2, which covers the City of Benicia, the southern half of the City of Vallejo, Cordelia, and Green Valley. On Jan.6 the Solano County Board of Supervisors elected Monica Brown as Chair for 2026.
Brown will help distinguish the services provided by city, county, state and federal levels of government. Her suggestions can help leverage the most influence that a citizen might request. Strategies will include how to build relationships, gather facts and statistics and mobilize supporters.
The program is free and open to the public. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
The Dona Benicia room at the Benicia Library has an Assisted Listening System. To get access to this system the city must be contacted in advance. Valentine’s Day comes early with the ultimate local shopping experience at the 8th free Super Valentine’s Boutique on Sunday, Feb. 1, in the elegant Hilton Concord Golden Gate Ballroom. Shoppers will be able to pamper themselves and buy gifts for their Valentine’s Sweethearts from over 50 vendors. 
The Boutique is open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. with free admission and free parking at the Hilton.
The free indoor fair allows shoppers to get their special Valentine’s outfit and Valentine’s gifts for family and friends from arts and crafts vendors, home-based businesses and commercial exhibitors. 
The Boutique is indoors at the Hilton Concord Hotel, 1970 Diamond Blvd. just two blocks off Interstate 680 at Willow Pass Rd. <a href="https://eventhub.net/events/Super-Valentine-s-Boutique-2026_6670" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Crafters and businesses interested in exhibiting at the Valentine's Boutique can register here.</a>
Clothing for women, teens and kids, jewelry, purses, candles, soaps, candy, fashion accessories, books, candy, coffee and tea, home goods, bath and body, kitchenware and cooking products, baked goods and so much more will be available. 
Hilton Concord will have a coffee, tea, wine and cocktail bar open at the Boutique for shoppers to relax during and after they shop.
The first 250 ladies through the door receive a Valentine’s Gift Bag. Each attendee will receive a free raffle ticket for numerous Valentine’s-themed prizes. Donation of food to the Monument Crisis Center will earn the donor another raffle ticket for each can donated.
