Armed Robber Tried To Murder Beverly Hills Man In His Apartment Building: Police

Police lifted a fingerprint from the scene of the June crime and arrested a Los Angeles man this week.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A man suspected in an armed robbery and attempted murder in a Beverly Hills apartment building in June was arrested this week, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

The robbery occurred at an apartment building on the 200 block of South Hamilton Drive on June 6. The victim entered his apartment building as the suspect held the elevator door open. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at him and demanded his necklace and watch, police said.

During the robbery, the suspect pulled the trigger twice, but no rounds were fired. The suspect made off with the jewelry, police said.

Police observed the suspect in surveillance footage touching a package in the apartment lobby. Investigators lifted a fingerprint off the package and identified the suspect as Randy Miller, 29, of Los Angeles, police said.

Miller was booked on charges of attempted murder, robbery and being a fugitive from justice on Thursday, police said.

Miller is also wanted in Colorado for robbery, police said.

Miller is being held without bail at the Beverly Hills jail. He is due in court on Jan. 22, police said.
