In tech-centric California, where Silicon Valley, Silicon Beach and Sorrento Valley are synonymous with the technological advancements, it's no surprise that the state is one of the best places for web developers.
A new study released by Zippia, a career expert site, shows that web developers in California are better off than their counterparts in other states. Four of the best places for web developers are located in California, with two being in the top 10.

In a field where there are many players, where you live can make a big impact on your long-term career prospects, according to the study. Regional differences can mean big differences in salary and career options.
The study looked at the availability of jobs, pay and the cost of living relative to pay to determine the best cities for web developers.

So, if you're a web developer in California, or an aspiring one, you should head to San Jose, San Francisco, San Rafael and Oakland. They are ranked Nos. 1, 5, 19 and 20 on the list, respectively.
These four cities are highly rated for high pay, available jobs, and chances for career advancement, according to the study.

And the place you'd want to avoid if you're web developer? That'd be Salisbury, Maryland; Yuma, Arizona; and El Paso, Texas.
