While the Registrar of Voters posted ballot-count updates throughout election night after polls closed Tuesday, on Wednesday the registrar began the first of a series of once-a-day updates. That's reflected above; the next update is expected Thursday by 5 p.m.
The results are preliminary: On a countywide level, the number of ballots counted by 4:31 p.m. Wednesday amounted to about 18 percent of eligible voters. There's still many ballots left to count and it could take days for winners to be declared in some races. For comparison, nearly 76 percent of eligible LA County voters cast ballots in the 2020 presidential primary, according to county election officials.
