Beverly Hills Dad Places Ad On Father's Day Seeking Wife For Son
The dad, apparently wanting to become a grandfather sooner rather than later, placed the ad without his son's knowledge.

Los Angeles, CA — A dad, perhaps looking to become a grandad, took an extreme measure to find a wife for his 48-year-old son: He placed a full-page ad in an Idaho newspaper on Father's Day.
The ad, placed without the son's knowledge, reads: "My name is Baron Brooks. I am 48 years old, never been married and live in Salt Lake City. I am looking for a wife who is ready, willing and able to have children as soon as possible."
Brooks, a Los Angeles native who moved to Utah 10 years ago for his business, was obviously mortified by the ad.

He told the Spokesman-Review his father, Arthur Brooks, 78, of Beverly Hills, placed the $900 ad last Saturday in the Coeur d'Alene Press in Idaho.
“My father did this without my consent,” Brooks told the paper. “I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is.”

The ad has since gone viral.
Why Idaho? Because the state is a predominantly red state and the elder Brooks wanted a conservative wife for his son.
"If you voted for Obama or plan to vote Hillary, you are not for me," the ad reads.

The potential mate should also be short and have no children, though that is, apparently, up for negotiation.
According to the ad, the elder Brooks plans to screen potential matches at the Coeur D'Alene Resort this Saturday.
The younger Brooks is, at least, being good-natured about the whole situation and is letting his dad go forward with interviewing potential life mates. Though, he admits, he is powerless to stop his dad.
"What am I supposed to do? He already did it," Brooks told the Spokesman-Review. But Brooks said he will have a talk with his dad once this is over.
The elder Brooks told the Associated Press he will comment after he completes the interviews Saturday.
According to the ad, the younger Brooks is Jewish, but not religious, and owns two health food stores.
Brooks described his dad as the Larry David character on the TV show,"Curb Your Enthusiasm." And since his dad has been ill, he is looking for a grandson to carry on the family name, Brooks said.
As for the ad hurting his chances at getting dates, Brooks is resigned but hopeful.
"Who knows, it can’t hurt," he told the Spokesman-Review. "Who the hell knows?"
