BHPD Officer Released From Hospital After On-Duty Collision

A Beverly Hills police officer returned home Wednesday after being injured in an on-duty motorcycle collision.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A Beverly Hills police officer was sent home Wednesday after being hospitalized with injuries from an on-duty crash.

The Beverly Hills Police Department Motor Officer was injured on June 29 after a crash between the officer's motorcycle and a car, according to Giovanni Trejo, public information officer for BHPD.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. There were no other reported injuries.

Videos posted to social media show Beverly Hills police officers applauding as the officer leaves Cedars-Sinai Wednesday with his arm in a sling.

"Our BHPD Motor Officer has been discharged from the hospital and home resting alongside his family. We couldn’t be more thankful," the department said in an Instagram post.

A couple nearby stopped to help the officer alongside the Beverly Hills Fire Department and other BHPD officers, authorities said.

The officer was traveling westbound on Wilshire Boulevard near Hamel Drive around 1:19 p.m. on June 29 when he collided with a car traveling northbound, Trejo said.

The California Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team opened an investigation.
