Councilmembers, Treasurer Officially Begin A New Term
Newcomer Sharona Nazarian and incumbents Lester Friedman and John Mirisch were sworn in Tuesday at a ceremony in Beverly Hills.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Three Beverly Hills City Councilmembers and a new City Treasurer were sworn in Tuesday after a tight municipal race.
Incumbent council members Lester Friedman and John Mirisch and newcomer Sharona Nazarian took their oath of office Tuesday after the final June 7 primary vote tally put them in the top three spots.
Friedman took the top spot with Nazarian trailing by only six votes. Mirisch took the third spot with a 931 vote gap. Mirisch edged incumbent Bob Wunderlich out of reelection by a margin of only 74 votes.

"I want to take a moment to thank all my incredible supporters who worked so hard during my campaign. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished and I look forward to continuing to serve the community that I love," Friedman said in an Instagram post after the election.
This is Nazarian's first term on City Council after working as Public Works Commissioner. Mirisch was first elected to the council in 2009 and Friedman in 2017, according to the city of Beverly Hills.

"I’m energized and excited to serve with Mayor Bosse and the rest of the Council," Nazarian said in an Instagram post last week.
Howard Fisher, who was sworn in for his second term Tuesday, was elected City Treasurer with 62.1 percent of the vote.
