Drivers Citied During Beverly Hills DUI Checkpoint: Police

Some 1,800 motorists passed through a DUI checkpoint set up in Beverly Hills last week.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — One motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and five others were cited for driving without a license during a DUI checkpoint in Beverly Hills last week, police said Wednesday.

The checkpoint was held Aug. 30 at North Santa Monica Boulevard and Crescent Drive from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Some 1,800 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 391 were screened, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

Friday's checkpoint was funding by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said.
