Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Beverly Grove

Police are seeking the public's help to find a motorist who was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man was struck and killed Saturday by a vehicle driven by a hit-and-run driver in the Beverly Grove community of Los Angeles and authorities are asking the public's help for any information which might lead to identifying that motorist.

A white BMW was going eastbound in the number one lane of Beverly Boulevard about 2:20 a.m. when it struck the pedestrian, a 26-year-old resident of Arizona, who was walking southbound on Croft Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The impact caused the pedestrian to move in an eastbound direction and strike the roadway. The motorist driving the BMW continued eastbound, failing to stop. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Matthew Thomas George, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

LAPD West Traffic Division detectives urged anyone with any information regarding the fatality to call them at 213-473-0234 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
