Mountain Lion Spotted In Beverly Crest Neighborhood: Reports

A Beverly Crest resident saw a mountain lion near Coldwater Canyon Drive early Sunday morning.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A mountain lion was caught strolling through a Beverly Hills neighborhood Sunday morning, multiple outlets report.

A private Ring security camera caught the cougar strolling near a home on Bowmont Drive, in the hills above Coldwater Canyon Drive. The cougar was walking in what appears to be a fenced-in yard at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, KTLA reported.

Tony Tucci, co-founder of Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife, told KTLA that the group has been aware of this particular mountain lion for more than five years, but they have not been able to tag or collar him.

Mountain lions have been spotted in residential areas across the Southland. In April, a mountain lion known as P-22, was spotted sipping out of a private backyard pond in Los Feliz. In March, P-22 even went for a walk down Silver Lake Boulevard a little after 7 p.m.

Homeowner Leslie Sank submitted the video to warn other residents of the cougar’s presence. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife offers the following advice to anyone who encounters a mountain lion:

  • Do not run.
  • Do not approach them.
  • Face the animal, make noise, and try to appear bigger.
