Police Blotter: A Copper Pipe Pilferer, a Spitting Assailant and a Thirsty Thief

Multiple vehicle burglaries makes this week's list as well.

Sub garages a hotspot for theft

Think a car is safe in a building's subterranean garage? Think again. Between 7 p.m. on May 9 and 7 a.m. on May 10, five residents on the 400 block of North Oakhurst Drive learned that even a gated garage door can't keep thieves away. All victims reported that a rear window of their vehicle was smashed by an unknown suspect. Three of the victims stated that nothing of value was taken, while another listed losses worth $360. One unlucky victim, reported $6,000 worth of property stolen.

A homeowner on the 600 block of North Palm Drive reported that sometime between May 7 and May 10, a thief entered the property through an unlocked gate and made off with copper piping and a water heater that had recently been installed in the pool house. The pool house door had been forced open, and the unknown perpetrator took off with the goods, valued at $1,800.

A thirsty thief

On the evening of May 10, a thief entered a home on the 600 block of North Alpine Drive and pilfered a bottle of wine. The wine had been stored in a hidden and locked wine closet, according to the victim.

Unfriendly neighbors

A 50-year-old white male weighing about 200 pounds verbally assaulted and spat on a victim at about 8 p.m. on May 13. The assailant, who has brown eyes and black hair, then retreated into his apartment on the 400 block of North Palm Drive, according to the victim.

Two-on-one

A white male and female in their mid-40s are accused of assaulting another man on May 13. The alleged incident occurred at about 9 p.m. on the 500 block of North Canon Drive. According to the victim, the suspects were upset with him, resulting in the woman backhanding him in the face, and the man punching him repeatedly in the head and then shoving his head into the pavement.

Rack em' up

At 1:15 p.m. on May 16, a victim reported being assaulted by a 36-year-old, white-haired Hispanic male on the 300 block of North Beverly Drive. The 5'7", 150-pound suspect allegedly hit and threw a metal rack at the victim.

Sticky fingers

At about 2:30 p.m. on May 15, a 39-year-old Hispanic male allegedly burglarized a store on the 9600 block of Wilshire Boulevard. The 5'8", 160-pound suspect reportedly entered the store, grabbed two handbags worth a total of $4,775, and fled the scene without paying.

Bad customer

An employee at a store near North Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard reported that around 3 p.m. on May 15, a 30-year-old black male weighing about 160 pounds entered the premises to browse the merchandise. When the employee briefly turned her back, she claims the 5'6" perpetrator swiped $1,600 worth of jewelry from the display case and fled.

Empty pockets

At about 2 p.m. on May 17, one white and two black males reportedly robbed a victim of $15. The three suspects allegedly approached the victim on the 200 block of South Moreno Drive, insisted he owed them money, then grabbed and held him down to grab his money.

Charge it

A woman reported that on the afternoon of May 17, an unknown suspect entered her office and took the wallet from her purse. The alleged incident occurred on the 400 block of North Bedford Drive. The victim's credit cards were then used in several Los Angeles stores, resulting in $250 worth of charges.

No door needed

A business owner on the 9400 block of South Santa Monica Boulevard reported that during the night of May 19, a 50-year-old white male weighing 200 pounds smashed open the front window to gain entry. The 5'10", gray-haired suspect then used the victim's tools to pry open a cash register before fleeing with $300.

A window for crime

Between noon and 10 p.m. on May 21, an unknown suspect entered a home on the 400 block of South Clark Drive through an unlocked kitchen window. After heavy ransacking, the perpetrator made off with jewelry, cash and a safe valued at $7,485.

Back-up plan

At around 2:30 p.m. on May 23, an unknown suspect entered an unlocked backhouse on the 800 block of North Crescent Drive. The alleged thief removed property worth $1,200 and fled the scene.

Knifed

A victim reported being assaulted by a 32-year-old, brown-eyed and bald Hispanic male on May 23. The alleged incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on the 200 block of North Crescent Drive. The 5'6", 160-pound suspect allegedly brandished a knife and struck the victim several times, causing multiple lacerations.
