Police Blotter: Bike Theft, Burglaries and a Daylight Assault

This crime roundup reminds us once again that we should always lock our windows.

Patch's week of BHPD blotters continues with a new set for Wednesday. Burglaries are the most reported crime on the blotters lately, so be sure to lock your windows and doors before you leave your home.

Ride away

Just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 5, a man stole a bike from a building on the 400 block of North Beverly Drive. The suspect, who is described as being about 18 years old, 6-feet tall, 175 pounds with black hair, entered through a rear alley entrance, removed the unsecured bike and fled. The victim reported a loss of $250.

Office thief

Between Aug. 7 and 9, someone entered an office through a multipane window on the 400 block of South Beverly Drive. The person removed property valued at $2,000 and fled through the front door.

Creeper peeper

At about 2 p.m. on Aug. 10, someone tried to gain access to a residence on the 9500 block of West Olympic Boulevard. The victim reported that a man reached his hand inside an open bedroom window and attempted to push open the wooden blinds.

Day time assault

At about 10 a.m. on Aug. 11, a man assaulted someone in the area of North Robertson and Wilshire boulevards. The victim reported being slapped and grabbed by the perpetrator, who is described as being about 25 years old, 5-feet tall, 140 pounds and having black hair.

Lock your windows

Between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 13, a home was burglarized on the 400 block of South Maple Drive. Someone entered the residence through an unlocked window, removed property and fled. The victim reported a loss of $146,000.

Seriously, lock your windows

Between the morning of Aug. 14 and the evening of Aug. 15, a first-floor apartment was burglarized on the 400 block of North Doheny Drive. The perpetrator entered the apartment through an unlocked window, removed property valued at $7,000 and fled.
