Burlingame Relay For Life Planning Begins

Have you participated in Relay For Life before? If yes, great! If not, now's the time to get involved.

Although it's seven months away, Relay For Life organizers are already gearing up to prepare for the August event in Burlingame. And they need your help.

Relay For Life of Burlingame Community seeks volunteers to help organize and run the event. Volunteer committee chair positions are still available, and Burlingame residents are encouraged to share their skills to make this event a success.

Relay For Life is a family-oriented, community event celebrating those who have battled cancer and their inspirational strength while remembering loved ones who were lost to the disease. Participants fight back against cancer during the event by raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Teams of 10 to 15 people will camp out at Washington Park, with at least one team member walking the relay track at all times during the 24-hour event. The day includes a Survivor's Lap, an opening lap of the relay led by cancer survivors, and a sunset luminaria ceremony celebrating survivors and honoring those lost.

More than 3.5 million people across 5,000 communities in the United States participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life each year.
