Burlingame Welcomes New Parks and Recreation Director

Margaret Glomstad takes over as Parks and Recreation Director beginning late January.

With a new year comes a new Parks and Recreation Director in Burlingame, as Margaret Glomstad takes the reins of the Parks and Recreation Department beginning in January 2012.

Glomstad comes to Burlingame after serving as Director of the Highlands Parks and Recreation District. During her eight years with the district, Glomstad oversaw the opening of a state-of-the-art childcare facility, helping procure funding and providing project management.

“Margaret’s energy and passion for the field of Parks and Recreation and her experience in managing recreation programs and open space, large capital improvement projects, along with an excellent record in building strong, collaborative teams makes her a great fit for our organization at this time,” said City Manager Jim Nantell in a statement.

City officials note that Glomstad’s experience with the childcare center will be instrumental in helping Burlingame in its desire for a new Community Center in the coming years.

Glomstad previously worked as the Aquatics Manager for the Highlands Park and Recreation District, with the City of Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Department and with troubled teens for San Mateo County. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from California State University Sacramento and a Master of Science degree in Justice Administration from California State University San Jose.
