Host A Spanish Student This Summer

Want a cultural adventure this summer? Learn more about becoming a host family for a Spanish student.

Looking for an out of the ordinary summer experience? Berkeley-based Edu-Culture International is looking for host homes in Burlingame for Spanish students.

The organization is looking for open, friendly hosts who can welcome a student for all or a portion of the student’s stay. Families are asked to provide meals, a bed and transportation to the group’s daily meeting place during the visit.

The 20 Spanish students come from the Basque region of Spain and will stay in Burlingame from June 26 through July 24.

The students are between 13 and 18 years old. Many speak English fluently, and all have a minimum of four years of English language education.

The students’ schedules will largely be filled doing cultural immersion activities with their chaperoned group. Mondays through Fridays for these students are spent exploring sites like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and UC Berkeley, although host families are welcome to join in on the fun.

Students will be with their host families on the weekends and in the evenings, giving families a chance to connect and experience a new language and culture, as well.

All students are screened in Europe and must provide teacher recommendations. Letters and pictures will be given to their host families before arrival.
