Major Injuries Reported As Pedestrian Is Hit On The Peninsula

Investigators said the victim was crossing the street in a designated pedestrian crosswalk when a vehicle struck him.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 37-year-old man was transported this week to a hospital with injuries that are major but not thought to be life-threatening after being struck by a vehicle in South San Francisco, according to police.

The crash occurred around 5:55 a.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Grand Avenue just west of Gateway Boulevard.

Investigators said the victim was crossing the street in a designated pedestrian crosswalk when the vehicle struck him. The driver remained at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be factors in the crash, police said.

An update on the victim's condition was not immediately available.
