Question of the Week: High-Speed Rail

Should voters get a second shot on high-speed rail?

Earlier this week, Burlingame City Council members discussed taking a stronger stance against high-speed rail. Members decided that after months of disapproving of the current high-speed rail plan, reading ridership studies, environmental studies and business plans with skepticism and finding the original proposed cost of the rail tripled, it is time for them to take more decisive action.

The council members said they would encourage legislators to stop or reverse funding to the project or ask that a ballot measure be put before voters.

What do you think? Now that California residents know more about the high-speed rail project, should they be allowed to re-vote on the issue? If so, how would you vote?
