What Should Take Burlingame Smoke Shop's Place in Town?
The old Burlingame Smoke Shop building is still vacant. What would you like to see there?
Have you noticed the “For Lease” signs popping up around Burlingame? We have here at Burlingame Patch, and it got us thinking. What new businesses would you like to see take those spots?
Each week, we’ll present a new vacant building and ask you, the reader, to tell us what should go there. Forgot zoning rules and regulations for a minute. If this location could be used for anything, what would you like to see? What would be best for the community?
The first building we’ll feature is the old Burlingame Smoke Shop at 1400 Burlingame Avenue. The shop was closed last spring. The store sold cigars and pipes, but also was remembered by Burlingame residents as a place they would hang out, browsing magazine racks and buying Cokes from the store in their youth. As in a May article, the store held a sense of nostalgia for Burlingame.
