Calabasas Schools Ranked 21st Best In Los Angeles

The 2022 Niche analysis of Los Angeles schools considered test scores, teacher salary, survey results, athletics and more.

CALABASAS, CA — Calabasas schools are the 21st best in the Los Angeles area, according to Niche's 2022 rankings.

Las Virgenes Unified School District shined in categories related to academics and college prep, but struggled in categories like food and facilities.

The 2022 Niche rankings considered multiple factors and data from the U.S. Department of Education for a comprehensive look at a district. This year’s analysis considered state testing scores, SAT and ACT testing scores, racial and economic diversity, surveys of student and parent experiences, athletic opportunities and more.

The most heavily weighted category was academics, accounting for 50 percent of a school’s score. LVUSD performed well in the academic category with 70 percent of students proficient in reading and 59 percent proficient in math.

The average SAT score for Calabasas students was 1290 and the ACT was 29, commonly placing students at schools like the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.

LVUSD ranked well for their teachers, with a student-teacher ration of 23:1 and an average teacher salary of $87,999.

The top scoring district in the area was La Canada Unified School District, with a student-teacher ratio of 24 to one and a high level of student proficiency in math and reading, according to Niche.

LVUSD was ranked the 42nd best school district in the state with the 44th best teachers.
