City Names New Community Development Director
After a nationwide search, the city of Calabasas chose veteran city staffer Michael Klein to be the new Director of Community Development.

CALABASAS, CA — After a nationwide search, the city of Calabasas named veteran city staffer Michael Klein as Director of Community Development.
Klein will begin his post on March 28, taking over for interim Community Development Director Don Penman. Klein has previously served as Senior Planner for Calabasas, overseeing housing programs, the city's rental assistance program and more, according to a news release from the city.
Klein will oversee the city's community development department, which is responsible for residential, commercial and industrial development, according to the city's website.

The city embarked on a nationwide recruitment process, Calabasas City Manager Kindon Meik said in a news release. Klein stood out because of his "vision for the department that will maximize the talents of the wonderful team of employees that he will lead," Meik said.
“I am excited to start this new position to better serve the City of Calabasas,” Klein said in a news release. “My goal is to build a team-centric mindset within the department to provide the best customer service to the community and to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.”
