Man Suspected Of Sucker-Punching Stroller-Pushing Grandfather Arrested

The man suspected of attacking a man in Calabasas has been arrested — and he's accused of a second attack in the neighborhood.

CALABASAS, CA — Authorities on Wednesday arrested the man suspected of attacking a grandfather while he was walking with his infant daughter in Calabasas, which was one of two unprovoked attacks committed by the suspect in the neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, deputies said.

Authorities located the suspect, Angel Sanchez Jr., 29, in Oxnard Wednesday afternoon. He was arrested on a charge of assault with force likely to produce great bodily harm, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Sanchez's arrest came after news of one of the attacks he's accused of was widely publicized. Deputies say the incident was actually part of a pair of attacks committed by Sanchez in the same Calabasas neighborhood.

The assaults both occurred occurred near the 26000 block of Agoura Road, near Lost Springs Drive and Cottonwood Grove Trail Tuesday at around 4:30 p.m. Deputies noted that both victims are Asian, though the motive for the attacks is under investigation.

One victim was a 60-year-old grandfather who was pushing his 10-month-old granddaughter in a stroller down the residential street. He was approached by another man who punched the grandfather in the face. The grandfather and the stroller both fell down on the street as the suspect walked away and got into a minivan that was parked in a nearby driveway, KTLA reported.
