Nick Reiner Was Diagnosed With Schizophrenia Before Slayings, Insanity Plea Expected: Report
Sources told TMZ the 32-year-old's behavior had become "alarming."

LOS ANGELES, CA — Nick Reiner was diagnosed with schizophrenia weeks before Police say he fatally stabbed his parents — Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner — sources told TMZ.
Nick Reiner was undergoing psychiatric care for mental illness, sources told the news outlet, adding that in the month leading to the slayings, his behavior had become "alarming."
Sources also told TMZ that doctors were trying to adjust his medications, but after the changes, "Nick was out of his head."

The 32-year-old was charged Tuesday with two counts of murder in the killing of his parents at their Brentwood home in the early morning hours of Dec. 14, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. His sister found her father's body hours later.
Nick Reiner is expected to pleadnot guilty by reason of insanity, Page Six reported.

Nick Reiner is accused of fleeing the home after the fatal stabbings but was arrested hours later at about 9:15 p.m. in Exposition Park in South Los Angeles, about 15 miles from his parents’ home, according to prosecutors and police.
A timeline of what Nick Reiner did in the hours before and after the slayings remains unclear, including when he checked into the Pierside Santa Monica, The Los Angeles Times reported.
Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton told The New York Times authorities were investigating Nick Reiner’s “travels from when we think he left the party, all the way to when he was arrested.”
The hotel and the crosswalk near USC where he was arrested, are close to E Line train stops. Police have not said if they located the weapon used in the slayings.
According to ABC7, multiple videos show the moments leading up to Reiner's arrest. One video shows him wearing jeans, a jacket and a baseball cap with a red backpack over his shoulder as he buys a drink at a gas station in Exposition Park, the outlet reported.
Another shows him walking near a crosswalk when police vehicles with flashing lights speed toward him and surround him, prompting him to raise his hands in the air, ABC7 reported.
According to TMZ, Nick Reiner got into a heated argument with his parents at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party the night before the couple was found dead.
