Brush Fire Near Mountain View Estates Extinguished

The 10- to 12-acre blaze in Calabasas was under control in an hour with no injuries or structural damage reported.

UPDATED: A 10- to 12-acre brush fire near Mountain View Estates reported at 12:09 p.m. on Wednesday was knocked down by L.A. County firefighters less than hour later, according to officials.

About 190 firefighters were dispatched to the blaze near the 25000 block of Queens Cliff Court in Calabasas, said Inspector Don Kunitomi.

The fire was caused by welders that were working on a wrought iron fence, according to a statement from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Knockdown was declared at 12:50 p.m., but crew members were still on the scene as of 1:40 p.m. putting out a few hot spots, he said.

No injuries or structural damage were reported.

Investigators are examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
