E-waste collection events are important because many electronics can still be reused, refurbished or recycled after their useful lifespan rather than ending up in a landfill or dump site, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. If improperly disposed of, e-waste can have a negative impact on the environment and public health, according to the EPA.
