SAN JOSÉ, CA — Authorities on Saturday night cited 720 people – including 500 at one location – in connection with widespread sideshow activity, San José police said.

“At Monterey/Branham, using a large coordinated response we were able to detain approx 500 vehicles/participants,” the agency tweeted.

Among those contacted, 82 were juveniles, police said.
Those whose vehicles were impounded face fines up to $4,000, police said.

“We’d like to commend and recognize all the Patrol Officers who assisted with this operation,” the agency tweeted.
“Many are swing-shifters who are scheduled off at 1am, some are still at work.
“Yes we are thinly staffed, but we are highly dedicated and motivated.”
