‘Active Shooter’ Report At South Bay School Deemed False

At least three additional "swatting" incidents occurred Wednesday morning at Bay Area high schools.

SAN JOSÉ, CA — A South Bay high school went under lockdown Wednesday morning amid reports of an active shooter that have since been deemed false, authorities said.

Officers at around 10:55 a.m. responded to Lincoln High School on the report of an active shooter that has since been deemed without merit, San José police tweeted at 11:39 a.m.

At least three additional swatting incidents occurred Wednesday morning in the Bay Area; at South San Francisco and Woodside high schools and Washington High of San Francisco.

Law enforcement agencies call such cases "swatting," an attempt to trigger an emergency police response on a false report.

“This morning at approx 10:55 AM we received a call of multiple students shot at Lincoln High School. Officers responded and began to clear the school to ensure the safety of students,” San José police tweeted.

“The call was a hoax and unfounded. We will investigate the caller.”
