Bungling ATM Theft Suspects Arrested After South Bay Crash

SAN JOSÉ, CA — Three suspects were arrested early Monday in connection with a failed ATM break-in after leading authorities on a pursuit, San José police said.

The suspects were arrested after their vehicle crashed into a light pole in Milpitas, police said. They were arrested on unspecified charges.

Officers responded after a witness saw the suspects attempting the break-in, police said.

The suspects fled in a vehicle when units arrived on the scene, police said.

“Early this morning while most of the city slept, a trio of criminals, dumb, dumber, and dumbest, thought they could saw this ATM out of a concrete wall,” the agency tweeted.

“A witness reported what was occurring and our Officers responded immediately.”

Two suspects tried to run away from police after the crash in Milpitas.

“Their driving was not any better than their attempted theft. They crashed into a light pole in the city of Milpitas. 2 fled on foot and lost the foot chase with our Officers. All three were arrested.”
