Condemned 7-Bed House Sold For $700K In San Jose

The colorful home that currently sits on the lot will have to be significantly overhauled or rebuilt.

SAN JOSE, CA — A seven-bedroom house in San Jose's Burbank neighborhood recently sold for $700,000, but its new owners will have to rebuild or make significant repairs before tenants can move in.

According to San Jose Spotlight, the condemned home at 2161 Elliott Street has multiple kitchens and sports a neon paint job that has caught the attention of neighbors over the years.

In an online listing, realtors at Compass described the property as a unique opportunity and a "blank canvas" for cash buyers with a vision to revamp the 4,000-square-foot plot into one or more homes.

As San Jose Spotlight reports, San Jose has programs available to help streamline the construction of accessory dwelling units, helping build more than 1,400 over the last five years, and the Elliot Street property could fit two ADUs if the owner chooses that route. Realtors told the Spotlight the property attracted multiple cash offers, including some above the asking price.
