ELECTION 2013: Should Campbell Union High School Continue a Parcel Tax?

Will voters continue a parcel tax for schools?

Campbell Union High School District voters are asked to vote on a measure, which continues an already-existing parcel tax:

Measure E: 
To support quality education in local high schools with funds that cannot be taken by the State, including academic instruction in science, math, English, Advanced Placement, art, music, technology, vocational courses; recruit/retain qualified teachers; maintain small class sizes; and provide safe/clean schools; shall Campbell Union High School District renew – with no tax increase – an existing $85 annual parcel tax for 8 years, with exemptions for seniors and qualified disabled citizens, independent fiscal oversight, and no administrator salaries? 


The 100-year-old district serves 7,700 students and encompasses the communities of San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Santa Clara and Monte Sereno and high schools include Branham, Del Mar, Leigh, Prospect and Westmont Boynton and Camden Community Day School. There are 43,000 voters in the district. 

Campbell polling places include: the American Legion Post at 1344 Dell Ave.; Camden Assembly of God Church, 2275 Camden Ave.; Campbell Baptist Church, 151 Sunnyside Ave.; Campbell Community Church, 860 Harriet Ave.; Campbell Fire Station, 123 Union Ave.; Campbell Middle School, 295 W. Cherry Lane.
