Victim Id'd In Fatal Crash Caused By Street Racing
The victim who died was ejected from a taxi cab hit by one of the speeding suspects on Tuesday morning near Monterey Road and Rancho Drive.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A woman who died in a crash Tuesday caused by two racing suspects been identified as 49-year-old Lorraine Garcia, the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office reported.
Police had arrested two men for allegedly racing and causing the victim's death early Tuesday morning in San Jose. The major crash was reported at 6:31 a.m. at the intersection of Monterey Road and Rancho Drive. A 61-year-old taxi driver had picked up two adults and was driving west from Rancho Drive to southbound Monterey Road when his car was hit. Jose Campos, 24, was driving a black Chevrolet truck with a 2-year-old passenger and allegedly racing another vehicle when he hit the yellow cab.
The taxi driver lost control of the cab and a woman was ejected from the vehicle, according to police. Both passengers were taken to the hospital, where one died and the other suffered major injuries. The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office will identify the victim after their family members are notified. The taxi driver, Campos and the 2-year-old were not injured.

Police arrested Campos on suspicion of manslaughter, child endangerment and exhibition of speed. Several hours later, they arrested the 22-year-old driver of a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta who was allegedly racing Campos when the crash happened.
Cesar Navarro was booked into Santa Clara County main jail on suspicion of manslaughter and exhibition of speed. Navarro initially fled the scene after the crash, according to police, who learned from witnesses that the two men had been racing. Including Tuesday's victim, 37 people have died in 35 fatal crashes this year in San Jose, police said.
