Fatal Hit And Run Suspect SJ Police Seek Help Finding

After the victim engaged in a scuffle with someone in the vehicle, the man was dragged and died later, according to police.

SAN JOSE, CA -- The police department is investigating a fatal hit and run traffic collision.

Officers responded to a felony hit and run traffic collision in the 4000 block of Park Paxton Place in San Jose at 6:39 p.m. on April 5.

The preliminary investigation showed that a pedestrian had some contact with a person or persons in a vehicle. As that vehicle drove away, the pedestrian held on to, or was dragged by the vehicle, police said. The pedestrian eventually fell to the ground and came to rest against a parked vehicle. The suspect vehicle, described as a light-colored sedan, fled northbound on Park Paxton Place without calling for help or providing identification.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later died. The suspect nor vehicle has not been identified.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office it confirms the victim’s identity and notifies next of kin. This is the city’s 12th fatal collision involving a victim and ninth vehicle vs pedestrian fatal collision of 2019.
