Fatal South Bay Crash Under Investigation
Alcohol or drug impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash, the CHP said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A South Bay solo vehicle crash Saturday afternoon killed one person and injured another, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred at around 3:43 p.m. on San Felipe Road north of Metcalf Road in San José, the CHP said.
Alcohol or drug impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash, the CHP said.

A Tesla driven by a 22-year-old San José resident headed southbound on San Felipe was speeding when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree, the CHP said.
The Tesla overturned several times as it collided with another tree just south of the first impact, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Tesla was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, and their passenger was later transported to Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, the CHP said.
The Tesla sustained major rollover damage.
This crash is still under investigation.
