Food Box Distribution Available Through Tuesday

Sacred Heart Community Service on 1381 S. First St. in San Jose gave out 4,200 food boxes on Thanksgiving week.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Approximately 3,200 families are expected to pick up food boxes in
San Jose on Monday and Tuesday as part of Sacred Heart Community Service's annual holiday food box distribution.

The distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at 1381 S. First Street (at Alma). Food boxes are filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, oil, eggs, bread and more, as well as a choice of a turkey, ham or chicken. The agency said it gave out 4,200 food boxes during the week of Thanksgiving.

On Wednesday and Thursday, parents and family members will have the opportunity to pick up new toys and books for their children. The agency is still collecting toys for the toy giveaway. Items most in demand include LEGOs, action figures and gifts for teens.

The donation station is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
