Hear Me Roar: 'Strong Girls, Women' Conference Set For March

An Adobe software developer will speak to the group of high school girls to explain the importance of supporting each other.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Adobe software developer Julia Alvarez heads the "Strong Girls, Strong Women" Conference scheduled for March 9 in San Jose.

The daughter of immigrants is expected to discuss how to support women who want to thrive in a male-dominated society.

The free event hosted by the Santa Clara County Office of Women's Policy will be located at the School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza at 1700 Alum Rock Ave. It's open to all Santa Clara County high school students and their adult allies, including their mothers and professionals who work with them.

The conference includes a light breakfast, lunch, cultural performances and workshops exploring leadership, empowerment, healthy relationships, identity and self-care. A networking and resource fair will also promote community resources and offer volunteer opportunities to youth.

Participants are encouraged to donate socks to benefit homeless teens.
