House Fire Displaces 10 In South San Jose
San Jose Fire received reports of an explosion that may have been caused by ammunition, but no evidence was found to confirm the claim.

SAN JOSE, CA -- San Jose firefighters knocked down a one-alarm residential fire near Hellyer County Park in South San Jose this afternoon. The fire was reported at 12:16 p.m. at 4112 Valleybrook Court, according to fire officials. It was knocked down about 30 minutes later.
Capt. Mitch Matlow said the department initially received reports of an explosion due to ammunition stored at the scene of the fire, but did not find any evidence to confirm the witness accounts. The blaze is believed to have started in a garage and spread to the attic.
Matlow said there are no reports of injuries but 10 people who lived in the residence, a combination of adults and children, have been displaced and will receive assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and crews are currently on scene looking for hidden fire spots inside the walls, Matlow said.
