House Fire Displaces 11 In San Jose

The call for the fire on East San Antonio Street came in at 8:26 a.m. No one was hurt in the blaze.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A house fire in San Jose this morning left 11 people displaced but did not cause any injuries, a fire captain said. The two-alarm fire was reported at 8:26 a.m. at a home in the 1100 block of East San Antonio Street.

A second alarm was initially called because firefighters were told that there may be people trapped in the home, but crews arrived and determined that everyone had gotten out safely, San Jose Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow said.

There was "heavy fire" in the attic of the house, Matlow said. Crews eventually got the fire under control around 9 a.m.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, according to Matlow.

The American Red Cross is assisting the people who have been displaced as a result of the fire, he said.
