Longtime Sharks Broadcaster Randy Hahn Becomes A U.S. Citizen
The Canadian-born five-time Emmy Award winner made the announcement on Instagram.
SAN JOSÉ, CA — Randy Hahn has spent most of his professional life documenting the accomplishments of others ever since he launched his broadcasting career calling dog races as a15-year-old growing up in Canada.
Nearly 50 years removed from his days on the greyhound tracks, and some 40 years since he started working in the United States, the longtime San José Sharks broadcaster and five-time Emmy Award winner got to make the call on an accomplishment of his own.
Hahn announced on Instagram announced that he’d become an American citizen over the summer.

Hahn first arrived in the U.S. in 1982 to cover the San Diego Sockers, an indoor soccer league team.
Hahn, who later this month turns 62, has also covered the Los Angeles Kings, the Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers.

“I’m so grateful to all of the people that helped me along the way and I truly am proud to be an American!” Hahn wrote.
Hahn’s swearing in was performed by a Sharks fan, The Mercury News reports.
“They handed us our certificate of citizenship, congratulated us, and told us to drive away because there were more cars behind us,” Hahn told the news outlet.
“I was expecting a little more pomp and circumstance to be sworn in.”
